Paderborn University (UPB) has the most spin-offs in the entire federal state. These cooperate closely with the university and act as clients for research and development or employers for graduates, among other things. To support the bond between the company and its place of origin, UPB has been awarding the quality label “Start-up from Paderborn University” since May 2008.
This important image factor highlights the development of the company from within the university and supports the external image of the company, benefiting both the company founders and UPB.
Criteria that must be met for the award are, for example, that the founders have studied, completed a doctorate and/or taught at UPB and that the spin-off has its core business in a knowledge- and technology-intensive field.
And why FASTEC?
Our founder Dr.-Ing. Karl-Heinz Gerdes completed his doctorate at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute of the University of Paderborn. FASTEC GmbH was founded by him and a team colleague from this institute in 1995 and today has over 400 customers and over 10,000 machines connected to its own MES software.
We are very pleased to have been awarded the quality label by Dr. Tim Brühn, project manager at the Technology Transfer and Business Start-up Center of Paderborn University, on 15.10.2019 in the new AStA Stadtcampus of the UPB. As one of the university’s former spin-offs, the entire FASTEC team is proud of this award.
