Software for Production: This is the motto under which the FASTEC team now has over 50 employees working in various areas – software development, project management, customer support, system administration, marketing and sales.
As no two productions are the same and each project sometimes has to meet very complex and individual requirements, it is important for all employees to have a good insight into how our software is used by our customers.
That’s why last Friday, September 23, the new employees who joined the FASTEC team in the last two years visited Gustav Wolf Drahtseilwerk GmbH in Gütersloh. There they were able to find out specifically about the use of a Manufacturing Execution System. The FASTEC team was welcomed by Mr. Jürgen Brünger, Operations Manager of the Gustav Wolf Group’s wire rope plant, who also started his tour directly in the production area. Here, large machines and massive steel cable reels dominated the image of the steel wire and steel cable manufacturer’s production; a clear contrast to the day-to-day working environment of the FASTEC employees.
At Gustav Wolf, the added value of the FASTEC MES solution lies above all in the newly acquired process data. “Although FASTEC has only been in use here for a few months, we can already see an improvement,” says Brünger.
When the team arrived back in Paderborn at lunchtime, there was hardly any other topic than discussing the newly gained experience. Sandro Großert, a first-year apprentice working in the marketing department at FASTEC, sums up: “It was really exciting to see a wire rope production facility with its large and noisy machines live and to get to know a different working environment. You don’t often get the chance to take a look inside a production facility, but the experience now helps me to understand our software and the use of our modules much better.”
