FASTEC Successfully Trains First Electronics Technician for Automation Technology

There is reason to celebrate: Simon Sterzer is the first electronics technician for automation technology to successfully complete his training at FASTEC. This further increases our capacity in the area of machine programming and machine interfaces. The highlights of his training at FASTEC so far include the development of our new FASTedge hardware and a trip to China.

The special thing about FASTEC is that there are many opportunities for further training. I got to know a lot during my apprenticeship and was able to try things out. I was even able to use my previous mechanical knowledge.

Support Customer Projects and Gain Practical Experience

During his training at FASTEC, Simon gained a lot of practical experience in the areas of programmable logic controllers (PLC), control cabinet construction and connection boxes. He was also able to look over his colleagues’ shoulders during customer appointments directly in production and implement requirements independently. For his school-based training, Simon attended a vocational college in Bielefeld, where he learned the basics of electrical engineering, among other things. Due to his extensive previous knowledge, he was able to shorten his training to two years.

Simon also played a key role in the development of our new FASTedge hardware product family. In this context, he had the opportunity to visit China in March 2024 to exchange ideas with partners and visit production facilities. The FASTedge Box connects our new smartOEE and pvaPRO products to the cloud, terminals and machines. Production employees can use the FASTedge SFT15 touch terminal to make entries at the machine.

As a solution partner for the factories of the future, we offer our customers complex communication interfaces for machines. With Simon, we have now trained our own electronics technician for automation technology, who meets the high demands of our customers in this area. In future, he will also be responsible for hardware development at FASTEC.

What I particularly like about my job is the variety. I work on both hardware and software. That makes it very versatile.
