The FASTEC 4 PRO Software Solution at URSAPHARM
URSAPHARM, founded in 1974, is an internationally operating medium-sized company and is one of the market leaders in Germany due to its broad product range in the field of ophthalmology. Preparations for general medicine round off the range. The primary goal in introducing an MDA/PDA solution was to generate live data from production that could be accessed at any time on various devices for reports. The system should be easy and quick to integrate into URSAPHARM’s existing systems and offer user-friendly, intuitive operation.

Short and Precise
Initial Situation
A few years ago, URSAPHARM successfully took its first step towards digital production by introducing SAP. It quickly became clear that further work should be done on the digital elements. The previous manual data entry definitely led to relevant delays in the processes. The goal was to capture the actual data in production in real time. With the constant growth in sales figures and the resulting expansion of production capacities, manual work is no longer up to date; a digital solution was the way forward. With growing orders, increasing production capacities and the resulting expansion of the machine park, as well as increasing regulatory requirements, the need for digital data acquisition became ever greater.
Improvements Achieved
The employees can see the end of the remaining time, the current production progress and error messages on the basis of the views with data from FASTEC 4 PRO. This means that the current production status can be called up at any time. This is very helpful when carrying out and documenting the shift handover and brings transparency to all areas. If individual machines repeatedly have problems, the frequency, duration and reason for the malfunction can be identified using FASTEC 4 PRO. This made it possible to calculate investments in new equipment with tangible data. In addition, the transparent data acquisition enabled many optimization projects to be derived from the actual data.
During evaluations, it was noticed that orders with identical initial situations were subject to strong fluctuations in setup times. Thanks to FASTEC 4 PRO, this was identified as a problem area and, with the help of subsequent shop floor analyses and workshops, was converted into efficiency increases.
Outlook:
During the course of the project, the responsible employees at URSAPHARM noticed positively that the FASTEC software can grow with production. In the future, URSAPHARM would like to connect further lines to the machine data collection and, in the long term, implement a holistic OEE calculation in production.
