Short and Precise

Initial Situation Relevant Master data for production was managed and rough planning was carried out in SAP. Detailed Scheduling and production control took place in a complex Excel spreadsheet, which had a high degree of variability and many intervention options. Due to the very high product diversity in the different distribution channels, the previous planning reached its limits. It was only suitable for the challenges of multi-stage production to a limited extent and relied heavily on the experience and knowledge of the employees. Objective The transfer of knowledge among employees was to be improved and planning support was to be added. Information that was previously only available in the heads of planning employees should be saved in the software in the long term. It was also important to create transparency about restrictions, rules and processes and make them accessible to employees. In order to reduce the maintenance effort, redundant data was eliminated, thereby eliminating the need to compare data in Excel and SAP. This also avoids transfer errors. Approach Dr. Kurt Wolff formed a core team for the project, which consisted of SAP system managers and Production Planners. This provided the necessary know-how for the integrated processes. Adaptations in SAP were avoided and the adaptation of FASTEC was preferred.only conditionally suitable and relied heavily on the experience and knowledge of the employees.
