Soups, sauces, sauce thickeners, salad dressings and basic products are manufactured here and exported to over 40 countries. The MES solution FASTEC 4 PRO was initially introduced in 2013 primarily for machine data acquisition and reporting.
FASTEC 4 PRO Replaces Existing MES
Even before the FASTEC solution, the Unilever plant in Heilbronn was no stranger to the use of manufacturing execution systems. Gerhard Weinert, Business Process Management Manufacturing at Unilever in Heilbronn, explains: “Before the introduction of FASTEC 4 PRO, we had been working with a competitor’s MES for about 20 years. Nevertheless, we decided to change the system. One reason was that our previous system was outdated – an update of the old system was on a par with the purchase of a new MES. In addition, we had many company-specific requirements that were not included in the standard scope of an MES. FASTEC immediately gave us the feeling that it could cope with the implementation under these conditions.” In what are now over ten project steps, the system has continued to develop.
Various Requirements of the Employee Groups
FASTEC 4 PRO is used in many departments at the Unilever plant in Heilbronn: in production, work preparation, planning, controlling, management and technical services (e.g. maintenance). In addition to the line PCs, many office PCs are also equipped with FASTEC.
OEE Report According to Unilever Standards
In order to achieve an even more detailed evaluation of the states that have occurred, the OEE report included in the FASTEC standard was extended for Unilever. Additional state categories can now be defined in the FASTEC 4 PRO Office Client (e.g. various loss categories). Using the drill-down feature, these categories can be viewed and analyzed in detail at any level. In addition, the report includes a tabular layer performance report. All values can also be displayed in the live monitoring.
