Playing it Safe: The Use of FASTEC 4 PRO at DOM Sicherheitstechnik

Once founded as a producer of industrial metal goods, DOM is now one of the leading manufacturers of locking technology with 1,500 employees in 20 branches throughout Europe. The product range extends from security solutions for single-family homes to state-of-the-art digital access control systems for large properties.

A wide variety of security solutions are also manufactured at the production site in Brühl near Cologne, where around 400 employees work. The company decided to implement an MES with the primary aim of increasing transparency in Brühl production and ultimately optimizing processes. “When selecting a provider, it was crucial that the system could be adapted to our individual needs – and this is exactly the case with the modular system from FASTEC,” explains Bartlomiej Latowski, Head of Technical Service at DOM.

At the beginning of the collaboration, three systems were provided with a test installation. “In order to reduce possible scepticism, it was important for us to inform all employees extensively and familiarize them with the advantages and benefits of the system during the introductory phase. This was an important step for acceptance and further work with the software,” emphasizes Latowski. After the successful test installation, which also convinced the employees, the MES was rolled out to 33 machines – both in prefabrication and in final assembly. During this phase, FASTEC 4 PRO was also bound to SAP, which was no problem thanks to FASTEC’s own SAP interface module.

In addition, DOM uses the FASTEC Mobile Client for on-call duty at weekends. On these days, the security specialist runs unmanned ghost shifts. The Android or iOS app alerts the on-call service directly as soon as a system comes to a standstill due to a fault.

But DOM also has further plans for the future with FASTEC: “In the coming year, we would like to expand our system with the Maintenance module and possibly also with the detailed planning module”. FASTEC will continue to be on hand to provide advice here too. “The discussions and workshops were and are always very constructive and our ideas are implemented to our satisfaction – thank you very much for the great support,” Latowski closes.
